Lake Ontario/Salmon River Report 9/5

published 05 September 2017

The lake fishing remains very good with King Salmon staging in front of the Salmon River in 20-90 feet of water. The best lures have been J-plugs, Rapala J-13 fire tigers, or a Pro Troll green e chip with an A-TOM-MIK Hammer fly.

The Salmon River is flowing at 335 CFS. There are some fish in the lower river and fishing over the Labor Day weekend was good for this time of the year. The best area to find Salmon are from the ballpark downstream. With lots of rain last night and today along with cooler temperatures at night, more fish should start moving into the river. The fish being caught are a mix of Kings and Cohos.
