Salmon River Fishing Report 9/21/2020 published 21 September 2020
Fishing over the weekend was a classic case of location is everything. The lower end of the river from the estuary to the flats was (arguably) the hottest it has been all year, with big waves of fish coming almost daily.
Yes the water is very low. The majority of the fish appear to be holding up in the deeper water during the day and moving mostly at night. We are praying for rain, but the anglers in the deep water are doing fairly well. The anglers on the lower end had most of their success on the fly with an indicator, running 8 or 10lb line with an egg sucking leach (hot pink).
What we are seeing is a great mix of fish right now. Trophy brown trout, coho, kings, even steelhead and rainbow trout are being caught.
