Salmon River Fishing Report 11/16/2020

published 16 November 2020

For most guys the word on the river was the same:  slow grind.  Few fish but the ones people have landed have been real quality fish.  There have been numerous reports of coho, too.  It's like the salmon are still trickling in here and there.

Oswego has been fishing very well.  Guys are still catching numerous steelhead, brown trout, and salmon.  In both places anglers are still using beads, egg sacks, and egg sucking leaches.  Orange and blue have been the best colors.

The smallmouth fishing continues to be very good on both Ontario and Oneida.  Fish are shallow and eating swimbaits, blade baits, hair jigs, ned rigs, and football jigs at Ontario.  While at Oneida the best fishing has been around Frenchman Island for perch and smallmouth.  We had very strong winds over the weekend (20-40) so we will have to see what effect that has on the lake fishing.

Our biggest surprise this weekend was the push of Atlantic salmon we saw.  Again, we want to encourage people to practice catch and release and to handle these fish with care.  It's extremely important that we try to help with the reintroduction of this species to insure they survive.  Ithaca and Cayuga Lake tributaries have seen some of the best action to date.

Here is the 10 day forecast for Pulaski.
