Salmon River Report 9/30

published 30 September 2016

The Salmon River is running at 185 CFS until midnight October 5th. The best run in the last 3 years entered the river yesterday and most fisherman had a very good day. Look for the good fishing to continue with fish spreading throughout the entire river. This morning had more fish coming into the river but not as many as the large run yesterday. The DEC has temporarily closed the lower Fly section (just above the bridge in Altmar) to make sure they are able to get all the eggs they need at the hatchery. The upper fly section and all the rest of the Salmon River remains open for fishing. For anyone who has been putting off coming up until a big run enters the river, you don't need to wait any longer.
